Poker Masters #29: $2M Gtd NLHE 8-Max Main Event

The Poker Masters Main Event commanded a $51,000 buy-in but that didn’t prevent 77-players taking part. This crowd created a $3,850,000 prize pool that was almost double the advertised $2 million guarantee.

Only the final 10 players got their hands on a slice of this juicy prize pool. One of our own, Sam Trickett, fell short of the money, busting in 13th place. The unfortunate bubble boy was Lebanon’s Karim Khayat whose 11th place exit locked up at least $154,000 for the 10 surviving players.

Vicent Bosca Ramon and Conor Beresford were the players who won this sum, Beresford’s exit setting a ridiculously tough final table.

Australian star Kahle Burns was the first finalists to bust. The Aussie got his hands on $163,625. David Peters and Finland’s Elias Talvitie were the next two casualties. They padded their partypoker bankrolls with $182,875 and $211,750 respectively.

Fifth-place and $269,500 went to Ole Schemion and he was joined on the sidelines by Steve O’Dwyer who collected $346,500.

Any of the final three players would have been a worthy champion. Each of that trio was also guaranteed to take home more than half a million dollars.

Three became two when Chris Kruk crashed out in third for $519,750. This set up a heads-up battle between Giuseppe Iadisernia and Linus Loeliger. Almost $350,000 was the difference between first and second-place prize money, but the superstars didn’t let that faze them.

A lack of a deal meant Iadisernia scooped $750,750 when he fell in second-place, which left Loeliger to turn his initial investment into the tournament’s only seven-figure prize, namely $1,097,250.

Poker Masters #30: $500K Gtd NLHE 6-Max

The final event of the Poker masters online was another guarantee buster. Some 146 players ponied up $10,300 to smash the $500,000 guarantee by almost $1 million!

Eighteen spots were paid, with Team partypoker’s Isaac Haxton falling in 22nd place and narrowly missing out on a score. Niklas Astedt finished in 20th with Daniel Dvoress helping himself to the unwanted title of bubble boy.

Places 13-18 all secured $26,789. Among those collecting this sum were Steve O’Dwyer, Connor Drinan, Chris Hunichen, and Ben Heath. Poker Central’s own Dan Shak won $31,390 for his 12th place exit, with 2019 WSOP Main Event champion Hossein Ensan falling in 10th for $31,390 too.

Mark Radoja, Samuel Vousden, and Pascal Lefrancois all crashed out to leave only six players in the hunt for the $367,782 top prize.

Those six became five when Chris Kruk busted. Russia’s Artur Martirosian ran out of steam in fifth place and walked away with $91,250, the final five-figure prize of the event.

Mustapha Kanit collected a cool $124,100 for his fourth-place exit, before Lebanon’s Mark Demirijan busted in third for $175,200.

Heads-up saw Alexandros Kolonias and Jason McConnon fight it out for the lion’s share of the prize pool. Kolonias already had a Poker Masters title to his name and won another by sweeping aside his opponent. Kolonias banked $367,782 with McConnon winning $248,200.

Everyone who cashed in a Poker Masters online event was awarded leaderboard points in addition to prize money. The player who earned the most points secure an additional $50,000 payment plus the famous Poker Masters purple jacket.

Kolonias’ victory in the final event locked up these extra prizes. The Greek star cashed 11 times, including two victories, and won $1,266,296. These awesome results netted Kolonias 1,191 points.

Artur Martirosian finished in second-place with 1,048 points, with Linus Loeliger being the third-place finisher on 1,037, the only other player to finish with more than 1,000 points.

That concludes the Poker Masters Online, which was supported brilliantly by the game’s high stakes gurus. Some $35.4 million was awarded during the festival with 124 different players cashing at least once!
